About Jim And His Artistic Process
Jim Budish has spent a lifetime paying attention. To the way a rabbit tucks into stillness, to the spirit flickering behind an animal's eyes, to the quiet joy that hides inside an ordinary moment. Born in Colorado in 1951, he found his calling in sculpture, and has spent decades refining a singular vision: to capture not what a subject looks like, but what it feels like to be alive.
Working in clay and cast in bronze through the ancient lost wax method, each of Budish's sculptures is unrepeatable. The ceramic mold broken away after every pour, ensuring that no two pieces are ever truly identical. The process preserves everything: the gesture, the mark, the intention. In his hands, minimalism is not absence, it is precision. A single line carries an entire personality.
His work has earned over sixteen best-in-show honors and stands in public installations and private collections around the world.
